Real Magic: Why We Create ‘Real-Life’ Styled Shoots (authentic wedding inspiration)

When you scroll through wedding magazines or Pinterest, it’s easy to get sucked into that "editorial" vortex. You know the one: the impossibly perfect symmetry, the budget-breaking floral walls, and the kind of polished perfection that feels more like a movie set than a wedding.
It looks pretty, sure. But does it feel real?
A few weeks ago, I got to play around with a vision that felt a lot more grounded. I wanted a boho woodland setup; a micro wedding table tucked under the canopy of the trees, relaxed couple shots in the wild, and a focus on the raw, natural connection between two people.
But here is the thing: I didn’t want it to be just another "perfect" shoot for the sake of a portfolio.

The Art of the ‘Real-Life’ Shoot
I’ve been obsessed with organising shoots this year. There is something so rewarding about gathering a group of suppliers who actually compliment each other, taking a spark of a vision and turning it into something tangible, and meeting the incredible legends who make this industry what it is.
But for me and my trusty partner in crime, Gem (@calmbackwithgem), there is a specific rule we follow. We want our styled shoots to feel like a wedding you could actually have.
We aren’t interested in creating a fantasy that requires a prestige budget or a miracle to achieve. We intentionally work with models and suppliers who are down-to-earth and authentic. Why? Because you deserve inspiration that doesn’t make you feel like your own wedding is "not enough" just because it doesn’t look like a magazine cover.

Authentic Wedding Inspiration
When we put this woodland setup together, the goal wasn't "perfection", it was feeling.
We wanted the rustle of the leaves, the intimacy of a small table, and the kind of love that doesn’t need a gold-plated backdrop to shine. By focusing on local talent and intentional choices, we created a scene that honours nature and connection rather than trends and excess.
Whether you are planning a tiny elopement in the woods or a mindful gathering with your favourite people, remember that the most beautiful part of your day isn't the décor, it's the soul of it.
A Huge Thank You
This magic wouldn't have happened without the super talented legends who brought their A-game to the forest. A massive shoutout to Dominic Williams for capturing these shots so beautifully. He truly caught that natural spark we were looking for.
